Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Whiteley were informed by Rev. D. S. Lowe, on Wednesday, that their son, Private E. C. (Claude) Whiteley, had been killed in action in France. The deceased soldier was
19 years of age, and prior to enlisting was employed as porter at Albert Park Railway Station.
Word had been received by Mr. and Mrs. Whiteley, at the beginning of the week, that
another son, Clarence, had been wounded. There is a third son (Alick) at the front.
