Neustadt Holstein, Germany
« on: Saturday 01 November 14 04:44 GMT (UK) »
Help if possible please,

My G.Grandfather was born 26/4/1853 in Neustadt Holstein, Germany.

His father was Joachim Molde who was (I think) a sailor.

Julius was in Australia in 1879 when he married Augusta Wilhelmine Lecher at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Adelaide.

This is the sum of my knowledge of Julius and his father. It seems to be very hard to obtain any historical details of the family on line.
I do not know when he emigrated either.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,

1879 marriage notice, gives him as eldest son
http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/30797177?searchTerm=%22Molde%22
Father is listed as of "Fehmam" (Fehmarn?), Holstein, which would not be incompatible with him being born in Neustadt.

The National Archives (Recordsearch) also shows his naturalisation in 1895, although the images are refusing to load for me right now.

Hi there jorose,

thanks for your reply, I had found these records but did not take in that Julius was the "oldest son",
it still needs to be followed up in Germany I think.
Are there any records on line there?
Cheers,
Chris

I see you have quite a bit already from the previous post:

It seems it is difficult to get hold of records from this area. The LDS don't seem to have microfilmed any church records. You could look for some sort of genealogical society in the area who could help you access the archives.
