Tale of two marriages
« on: Sunday 02 November 14 13:16 GMT (UK) »
Hi Rootsters,

Slight query about  4GGrandfather Daniel BOUCHER.  I can find two marriages but can't find any other info to narrow down which one is mine.

Daniel BOUCHER marr Mary JONES 26 Feb 1815 Amberley Worcs (IGI film 350553)

Daniel BOUCHER marr Mary HIGHLEY 3 Feb 1812 Clent Worcs (IGI film 1042161)

They had two sons, Samuel b 1816 and John b 1820, so either dates fit.  I also can't find their births.

So questions: anybody know where the original info would be to see if they are any more details?  And I can't find Amberley to see if it is reasonable with Samuel and John's birth place of Elmley Lovett.

Yours hopefully,

Could that 1815 marriage be at Abberley?

Hi Kgarrad,

Hmm, I wondered that but unfortunately it's a transcript so I can't make it different no matter how much I squint.  I've looked through the rest of the batch on Family Search and there are other Ambersley entries so if transcribed wrongly at least it was consistent!  And I am very appreciative of all those folks, past and present who have given their time to transcribe the docs we rely on, but to view the actual images can make such a difference.

Marriages had to take place in the parish church, and on the GenUKI list of Worcestershire parishes, there is no such parish as Amberley/Ambersley?

Abberley is the closest match, and it's just 9 miles from Elmley Lovett.
But then, Clent is just 10  miles, the other way?! :-\

there is an Ombersley close by.
I can only see one Daniel boucher birth in the area, could it be the first wife died and he remarried.

I would also think Ombersley - on the IGI it is listed as Ambersley

Genuki does not show a church at ombersley, but Worcester archives has records for Ombersley St Andrew.

I did not find a death for mary boucher so that is inconclusive

There is definitely a church at Ombersley - went to a funeral there a few years ago

Hi All and thanks for your replies, I'm thinking Ombersley now (but have mentally bookmarked Abberley just in case).

Mazi, where was that birth you found?

I've got back to John BOUCHER and Mary GROVES and am now trying to prove his parents, hence my question.  In terms of Daniel's parents I think they should be William BOUCHER/BUTCHER and Susanna PORTMAN as that ties in with brother Samuel living with grandmother Susanna BOUCHER (b 1756) in 1841 (and spinster aunt also Susanna BOUCHER(b 1785ish)!!!).
