Shoemakers/Cordwainers in Castle Donington
« on: Friday 07 November 14 00:40 GMT (UK) »
Hi folks

I'm wondering if there are any sources available which would give a list of shoemakers/cordwainers in the Castle Donington area in the period of between say 1770-1780?  If I can find one named Wood (there is one in the 1841 Census) then the theory I have about what made my ancestor Richard move there from Morley in Derbyshire might just have legs!

Someone on another site wanted information of shoemakers and cordwainers for the same time period, but in Leicester/Rutland.

They were advised to try the records office (but that was 12 years ago).  They believed that the Records Office had apprenticeship records.

Thanks Chempat.  Unfortunately that's a bit far for me to go! ;D

Thanks, I didn't realise they'd offer that sort of service! :)

I did not say they would do the work.  :)

But they can talk to you.
