Im interested in any information you can find about Andre Page or his business Andre Page & Co. The business of Andre Page & Co is found in local directories at 140 London Road Southborough from 1934 to 1938. This company is listed as "photographers etc" and also as "photographic publishers". I have seen examples of postcards bearing his name on the front lower right corner as "Andre Page & Co". I do not know what the back of his postcards look like. Of the half dozen postcards I have seen of his on the internet (eBay) his views are of buildings etc in Southborough and Tunbridge Wells, but also of Mayfield,Sussex (2 cards) and one of Rochester,Kent. I have also seen a book or booklet "Published" by Andre Page & Co. entitled "Guide to the High Rocks" (a scenic spot just outside Tunbridge Wells) with photos and text. His postcards are all "real photo" cards being black and white with white boarders. On the front is hand written the name of the subject at the left and his company name on the right. He took over the photographer business of Alec Brook who began taking photographs and making postcards of them in 1915 in Southborough and died in Southborough in 1933. The business of Andre Page & Co was taken over by E.A. Sweetman & Son Ltd about 1939 (another postcard and publishing business).It is interesting to note that in the 1934 trades directory Andre Page & Co was NOT listed in the "Photographers" heading-just under "Photographic publishers" which to me perhaps indicates that he did not take photographs and that his business was more of a printing/publishing business with the views in his postcards taken by other photographers (this needs confirming).
Im told that before moving to Southborough he was a resident of 31 Stephens Road in Tunbridge Wells,but I was not able to confirm this myself. I don't have any other information about this man or business-Birth,parents,siblings,places of residence, death etc are all wanted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
