Wynthrop College, Ashton upon Mersey.
« on: Sunday 16 November 14 19:40 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am researching a family in Girvan Scotland and recently inherited approx 100 old postcards dating from 1888 to 1905,  the recipient of most of the cards is Mary Gordon Valentine she was born in Girvan in 1883 and it would appear that she was the collector of the postcards, most have been sent to her family home in Girvan but a few are addressed to Wynthrop College, Ashton on Mersey, Cheshire....

Does anyone have any information re this college as Mary was there in 1900/1901... I can find very little on the internet..

Many thanks
Patricia

In 1901 she is a pupil at the college which is shown as St Mary's Church Moss Lane (Wynthrop College)

It was in the Ecclesiastical parish of St Mary Magdalene and there is a church of that name still there at 44 Moss Lane - see Google hits
