WALTER BOLER
« on: Sunday 23 November 14 13:38 GMT (UK) »
Hi Folks,
Have a problem finding the marriage between Walter Boler 1843-1920 and Mary Jane Bellworthy 1848-1896.  Somewhere in Canada.  He emigrated to Canada.
Tried Ancestry/Familysearch.
His parents were John Boler 1790-1879 and Ann Cotes 1812-1875.
Grateful for assistance.

Assuming I have found the correct family, they are traceable from the 1871 census onwards living in Middlesex County Ontario. Their first known child Alice was b. about 1870.

Civil registration in Ontario only began in 1869 and they may have married earlier. Some marriages prior to this time are available but not all, if I remember correctly. Walter and Mary Jane likely married in Middlesex County. You can try searching through this link. It is free to use.

According to the 1901 census, Walter arrived in Canada in 1861.

My apologies should given a bit more info.
EdCan: Polarbear beat me to it and answered your question, but thank you for your time
Polarbear: Yes the first child was Alice, who married Thomas Springett and the last child was born in 1888.  Thank you for the link, but did not find them.  Thank you for the info regarding Civil Registration.  Middlesex is correct and in later some of the Boaler/Bowler/Boler (name changes) did in fact go there.

Once again grateful thanks to all.

In case you hadn't found them as surname Bolard in 1881... http://data2.collectionscanada.gc.ca/e/e328/e008199284.jpg

Thanks JJ for the info.
Thats the family and another way of writing the surname.  Suppose it depends on how official hears the name.  No wonder at times we cannot find ancestors.

Yes, confusing..but agree it must be a hard one to research as it is most odd that 4 children are written & transcribed badly, Jessie May, William & John as Baber and then Sarah as Baker, on the FHS site... :P

Perhaps Smiths are still the hardest though... ;D  I do see your dilemma if you are looking to find more Mary Jane Belworthy as I see she doesn't appear to be registered as Mary Jane, although it is always used on census.
There are no other Belworthy to be found in Ontario so she appears to have come on her own.
