Have you the marriage of George & Sarah, as it looks to be 3rd December 1843 Longcot to Sarah Norton

Thank you keyboard86.  I'm still not sure if that is the correct Sarah but good to have the details on file for further research.

I saw that marriage of Sarah to Jesse, and Sarah gave her father as Silvester BALL. Might have been made up as she was likely illegitimate. Other witness looks like Sarah Lays. Sarah Ball also said she was a spinster.

If she was Sarah BALL there is no marriage of a Sarah BALL to a George BALL that I can see.

If she was Sarah NORTON then she was born at Stanford in the Vale

Baptism Stanford in the Vale
1824 Dec 26, Sarah, d/o Sarah HORTON

Marriage Longcot
1843 Dec 3
George BALL, 21, bach, servant, s George, lab
Sarah NORTON, 19, sp, s Elizabeth sp
wits Moses Sealy, Catherine Higgs

For Sarah to marry Jesse, George would have had to have died, as divorce was not very common in those days, and very expensive. Only for the rich.

Or george and Sarah were never married.

Once more many thanks for your reply Ian C.   I will now follow through with the Silvester Ball & see if I can trace the family. If this is the Sarah I am looking for it could well be that her daughter Mary Ball/Barlow on the 1871 census was illegitimate & her son was Albert George White born 1876.   (also may have been illigitimate as he lived with his grandparent's or else Mary died at birth or soon after prior to 1881.

Ian C

or they both remarried bigamously.

George is still alive in 1891

Also - have you worked out the parentage of Albert G White b c1875, the grandson living with Jesse and Sarah. that might help make a connection (or otherwise)

Hi Mabel  Bagshawe, Thank you for your reply. I shall buy a birth cert for Albert George White.

Hi trish1120, Thank you for your reply regarding the witnesses.  Thomas Barlow was a brother of Jesse Barlow & Sarah Jane Lay married Jesse Barlow's brother Mark in 1863.
