Newspaper Article in Decatur Illinois Newsaper Needed.
« on: Thursday 11 December 14 19:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

A distant relative, Joseph Warburton died on 9th November 1895 in either Maroa or Harristown, Macon County Illinois.

I have chanced upon an article about his death on page 3 of the Decatur Bulletin Sentinel of 16th November 1895. I have found this on FindMyPast's newspaper search. However, frustratingly only the front page can be viewed. The article caught my eye as it suggests that Joseph's death was a violent one! Unsurprisingly this has intrigued me greatly!

Can anyone me help with this? Obtaining a copy of the page in question or the details as I would be most interested to know what happened!

Many thanks in advance.

Kind regards

David

Hi,

FIND A GRAVE

Joseph Warburton - includes Decatur, IL Evening Bulletin Nov 11, 1895 p8.

Joseph Warburton, who lives a few miles southeast of Harristown, died at 9 o'clock, Saturday night as the
result of injuries he received early in the afternoon by being thrown from a horse. In the evening he went to the village for his mail and getting it, he started for his home. He was on horseback and no one saw the accident which resulted in his death but the supposition is that the horse became frightened and threw the rider or that the animal slipped and fell on him. Mr. Warburton was picked up in an insensible condition and taken to the home of Rev McNabb. The local doctor was called and it was feared then that Mr. Warburton had been fatally injured. Dr, W. J. Chenoweth from this city was summoned but a telephone message was received at 9 o'clock Saturday night that the man had died as the result of his injuries. The victim of the accident never regained consciousness.
He was well known in this section of the country and was highly respected. The funeral will be held Tuesday morning.
