Trickers or Frickerson (St Martins Essex)
« on: Friday 26 December 14 21:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Can someone let me know if the male surname is Trickers or Frickerson on these?

Marriage is John Trickers? to Charlotte Pritty in 1788 and the son is baptised in 1789.

Both the marriage and the baptism of the son it looks like Trickers but on a marriage that John is a witness to (his brother in law - John Pritty and Elizabeth Warren) in 1791 his signature looks like Frickerson.

Note also John's signature on his marriage and that where he is the witness are almost identical.

I have had a look at Boyd's marriage index but the marriage is not listed that I can see.

Thanks.

Hi Sandra,

You have cropped off John's signature on the marriage entry, but the clerk has written TRICKER no S on the end. Having found the complete marriage entry in the PR's, I see John also signed TRICKER.

I also read the baptism as TRICKER the tail of the Y in Pritty has overlapped the E in TRICKER underneath.

No doubt others with give you their thoughts.

They both look like Tricker to me. The first letter is a 'T' not an 'F'.

I thought that at first until I noticed the loop of the Y coming down from the name Pritty on the line above as Jebber has pointed out.

Hi Jeebber

Thanks for your post yesterday. I can see what you mean by the Y overlapping the E.

I just found John's first marriage in 1786. (Signature is the same). The marriage didn't last long as his first wife died in December 1786 and they were married in Jan 1786.

Now to see if I can find any other information for John & Charlotte (other children and their burials).

Thank you all
