Sharpe/Laverty
« on: Wednesday 31 December 14 21:55 GMT (UK) »
Robert Sharpe B 1840 Bushmills married Mary Armour B 1830 at the register office in Coleraine Register Office in 1861 they had one possibly two children Robert B 1867 and maybe John B 1870
Mary died in 1907
On the 1911 census Robert is shown living with Maggie Laverty his step daughter aged 58 (B 1853)and single
I cannot see a marriage for Robert between 1907 and 1911 so I have to assume that Maggie Laverty was somehow related to his late wife Mary Armour
I cannot see a birth or death for Maggie Laverty
Can anyone help me solve this puzzle

Thank you for your post
The marriage of Robert to Mary Armour shows her as a spinster and her father as john armour
Yes this is the son of Robert sharpe . He married Maggie Jane Hamilton in Glasgow and one of these children is my grandmother
I wondered if Maggie Laverty was the illegitimate daughter of Mary Armour
Mary would have been 23 when Maggie Laverty was born

Have you located Maggie in 1901 census anywhere yet?

Have you tried looking for a baptism for Maggie Laverty (checking also the surname Armour)?

I have not been able to locate Maggie on the 1901 census under Sharpe ,Armour or Laverty unless there is a misspelling I have looked at the UK and Scotland as well
I have found a baptism on the Internet for Maggie Laverty on the 17 May 1853 Bushmills but I have not got any more details I guess I need to try to contact the PRONI to check Church of Ireland baptisms for Bushmills to see if there is any more information

PRONI doesn't have the staff to do research.

I did a 1901 census search for 'Maggie' (no surname) in Bushmills DED and the only one the right age that came up was Robert's wife Maggie Sharpe (but, as Margaret, she's with him in 1911 so can't be her).
