hi all

I see where the estimated year of birth comes from, freeBMD death registration ;
Name:  Benjamin Rogers
Estimated birth year: abt 1798
Registration Year: 1876
Registration Quarter: Jul-Aug-Sep
Age at Death: 78
Registration district: Braintree
Volume: 4a  Page: 231
and his place of birth comes from the 1851 census where he says that he was born in Bocking ( I am guessing he also says this in the 1861 census) in 1871 he says he was born in Wethersfield, where I know that a lot of Rogers's where living, but that also goes for Bocking and Braintree  ???
,,, one possibility could be that if Benjamin was born in Bocking he may be in the non-conformist records/registers ?

howdy all
I have been corrected,,,, Benjamin Rogers gives his place of birth as Bocking, Essex in the 1871 census and not Wethersfield,,,,,, there are 2 Rogers's as inmates at the Braintree Union workhouse,,,, :P

dear all

a date for the marriage has been given to me for Benjamin Rogers and Jane Hagecock (?) as ;
                 18-10-1823, parish Church Panfield, Essex.

These details are via, via and the origins unknown, can anyone help please ?
I would really love to track this marriage down for a copy of the parish register entry which would be a great help with this line  ::)

hopefully
Pete :o

The details are correct. They were married by banns with permission from friends! Must have been underage?
Louisa Hagecock was one of the witnesses, along with John Barker. None signed. All made their mark.
Jamiesons, Martins and McGonigals of Coleraine, Londonderry
and
Cullens, Grahams and Challenors of Dublin county and city.

Not sure if you already had this but I have found the baptism of Jane Hitchcock, daughter of Joseph & Elizabeth, born 11.04.1803 and baptised 22.05.1803 in Gt Sailing (a parish adjacent to Panfield)

Just need to find out which Olley branch she is from

hi all
Louisse hagecock as a witness is a great clue, ( thanks nannyj) maybe a sister ? who knows, something to research which may reveal the whole family, parents and siblings.
The thing that grabs my attention is the name Hagecock and the link to the name Hitchcock ?
I have heard of this possibility before, but thought that the link between the names was too vague,, I mean, if you speak it out loud, it must be difficult to make a mistake between the two unlike for example ; Rogers and Riodgers ?
