Benjamin Rogers Panfield Census details please.
« on: Tuesday 06 January 15 13:57 GMT (UK) »
dear all

I am looking for census details for Benjamin Rogers and Jane Hagecock(?) in the 1851 and 1861 census's. I believe him to have been born c 1798, Bocking, Essex, although have no documentation for this.
I have received some information regarding their children, which seems to have been taken from the 1841 census ;
Maria c1824, Bocking, Essex
mary Ann c1826, Bocking, Essex
William c 1828,  Panfield or Penfield, Essex
Thomas c1830,  Panfield or Penfield, Essex
John c1833,  Panfield or Penfield, Essex
Ephrain c1837,  Panfield or Penfield, Essex
Phoebe c1838,  Panfield or Penfield, Essex

I did find Benjamin in the 1871 census as an inmate at an institution in Bocking, Braintree, Essex, not so sure if its a prison or mental institution or maybe a workhouse  ???

I would be really pleased and grateful with any help  ;D
all the best

A Benjamin Rogers died at Braintree, Essex, 1876
Just had a look on AA route planner and Bocking is part of Braintree. Panfield is less than 3 miles from Braintree.

Looks like he died in the Workhouse.
He is on the 1851 census, but his wife Jane is not listed-children include a Walter who is 6 years old.
regards.

hi again  ;D

thanks for the information, great ! Kinda sad to see Jane passing away with all the children still at a young age, I guess, Benjamin couldn't find a second wife to take on all those kids !

Catfordcrooner, could you please add the other details, such as age, occupation, address etc from the 1851/ 1861 census's ? ( reference would also be handy if that ok) many thanks in advance.
all the best
