Susanna GOODWIN
« on: Thursday 08 January 15 17:18 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone,
I've 'lost' someone in New York!
I know Susanna GOODWIN was born 1832 Sutton Valence Kent England d/o William GOODWIN & Mary Jane GOODWIN (nee BAKER).
We are not 100% sure when she (And her Elizabeth) travelled to the United States. Some say 1851, some 1852 and some 1855. If you believe the 1900 US census it would be 1855.
Susanna married James HADAWAY and had her first child Emma born 1854 in Indiana.
Can anyone help find her marriage to James and possible emigration please?

Hey JJ, thanks for that. Both URLs are for the same name, different age, but it does look like the sisters. So that puts Susanna in New York 1852, so the marriage looks like 1852-1854!
Appreciated!

This could be James Hadaway living with the Howell family in Marion, Wayne, New York 1850.
IF it is James, this puts him in New York so a marriage there would be feasible. Just can't find one  ::)

Zephaniah Howell  37 Ann Howell  31
Margaret Howell  14
James Hadaway  23 Born England.
Edward Penfield  22
Frederick Bump  11
William Howell  35

Can't see any Wayne County records for that period

Nothing seems to come up in Indiana Marriage Records

Marriage of Emma Hadaway to Wilson McCarty gives her birth year as 1854  ???

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FCVY-95C

No clues on the FIND A GRAVE (or the obituary notice attached) of daughter Emma Hadaway/McCarty just gives birth as "1855"

Cheers Priscilla & Sandra, appreciated.

James HADAWAY Arrived New York, New York, USA 11 Aug 1849 on the ship Gladiator so this looks like him on the census, Susanna came later.

Orrin HADAWAY I had as Oren M HADAWAY ..... with a birth date of 13 Jul 1873 which looks like a transcription error. i have him married to Phoebe Ann BAKER, which looks like she is using her second forename!

Best Wishes,
Derek
