I have a Christina Munro Lloyd who married a Robert Welsh in the Dec quarter of 1920 registered at Houghton-le-spring. Have looked for their marriage at Newbottle St. Matthew's to no avail. Possibly they could have married in West Herrington, where I believe, Robert lived. They eventually moved to Horden after 1923 and settled there. Wondering if some kind person knows of this family and can point me in the direction of Robert's parents names or any other information about the family. As far as I know, they had 3 children Robert b.1921, Isabella b.1923 both registered at Houghton RD. and Jessie B. registered at Easington RD. Before marriage Christina lived at 17 Shop Row St. Matthew Philadelphia Newbottle Houghton-le-spring. Many thanks.

You would be best getting a copy of the marriage cert (from www.gro.gov.uk)
Then it  would confirm exactly where they married, and also give names and occupations of their fathers.
You may also get an age at marriage, which will help you find their births on freebmd, and hopefuly locate them on earlier censuses with their parents etc
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

census information is Crown Copyright from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Thanks for prompt reply.
Yes that is an option.
Being a pensioner I tend to look for alternatives first.
However, many thanks for your most welcome advice and I shall consider that if nothing comes from this hopeful posting.
Cheers

hi,
the 1901 census has a Lloyd family as follows

at 17 Shop Row, Philadelphia
William J Lloyd  head  age 47  b.Dudley, Worcs
Harriet  wife age 48   b.Tipton Staffs
William J  son age16   b.Tipton, Staffs
Harriet Churchill  g/daughter age 4  b.Newbottle, Durham
Christina M Lloyd  g/daughter age 2 b.Newbottle, Durham

n.b. a Churchill family live at 18 Shop Row

if this is you family I would guess that Christina's father was probably born   Worcester or Staffs

There is also a birth of a Christina Munroe Lloyd    1898 3rd quarter 1898 Houghton le Spring which would be the registration district for Newbottle.

hope this is helpful

hi just had another look at this

there is a family tree on Ancestry showing Emma Lloyd married to  a Richard  T Churchill 1895,
among their children there is a Harriet and a Christina Munroe . Although the info is there, it is still best to check for yourself.

If this is the correct family Christina's surname would be Churchill ???
Need to double check the marriage details.

Many thanks.
All you suggest looks most positive.
Unfortunately, I'm not a member of Ancestry so unable to contact that family ???
However will pursue your other advice.
