Henry was the son of Fred and Emma Bell, Church Lane Thorne.
Killed in action at Verbrandmolen after volunteering to help drive back a German raiding party which had broken through into the trench, he had served in India from 1908 and was recalled in 1914 to serve in Flanders.

Henry is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial in Ypres as he has no known  grave, Henry is not an ancestor but he was the first man from my home town of Thorne to be killed in action.

Remembered with Honour.
