Downloading from Google Drive
« on: Wednesday 28 January 15 17:13 GMT (UK) »
I have ged files on Google Drive from my old laptop.  I now have the full version of Legacy on my new(ish) laptop and I want to download them.  But when I try it demands a programme to download them to, and I can't find any part of the Legacy files which work.  I have windows 8, if that's relevant.  Am I doing something wrong?

When you select the download option from the Google Drive page and little window should pop up with two options, it will save "open" or "save", you need to select save and save it somewhere where you know where it is, like a My Downloads folder.

Once it has saved to your folder, you then open Legacy and load it from the folder option and the top of the screen and next from "Select the file using the windows dialog box" and from here you need to find where it has saved from and it will install.

Thanks, Alan, done it.  Just a note to others - it's the ged.ftb file you need.  And the new version of Legacy has mucked up the file to an extent.  It's going to take some work  :-\

Another tip is that you can also create folders (directories) in Google Drive. To do that, click on "Create" then select "Folder"

In the example below, I've got a folder for a man who used to lean on lamposts and clean windows.

You can also select multiple files that you want to download by selecting them, then you right-click and select 'Download'.

In this example I've selected a whole folder and three images.
