Census 1901 and 1911 - Love
« on: Thursday 29 January 15 07:38 GMT (UK) »
I have received a lot of help from here in the past for which I'm very grateful, so I'll try another request.

There is a family story which I'm trying to get to the bottom of, truth or not.

In the 1891 Census there is an Annie Love (born Wellingborough approx. 1877) who is shown as being a servant at Castle Ashby.  The story is that she fell pregnant whilst unmarried and had a son called Charlie Love and they moved to Nottingham.

I have been unable to trace Annie on a census for either 1901 or 1911.  I'm not sure when Charles Love was born (apart from it was before 1914) or when she moved to Nottingham.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Many thanks.

Hi Beechers

We can only help with the 1901 census, 1911 look-ups aren't allowed here, sorry

What's the significance of 1914 as mentioned in your OP?

Thanks very much for this Dawn.

The significance of 1914 is this is the year my Grand Uncle was born (Annie Love's brother in law).  We know that Charlie Love was older than him, but apart from that am unsure as to location and year of his birth.

so, it's possible the child was born between 1891 and 1901 when she was still in Northamptonshire.

It's also possible the child was born 1901-1911 in either county.

I've used freebmd to search births and deaths together and there are only 7 Charl* Love born 1891-1914, you can chose more than one county when you search there.

Interestingly, one born in 1896 in Northampton died 1897 in Nottingham and there doesn't appear to be a corresponding Nottingham birth for the death.
