Pescod/Peascod/Peskett & Gosden families of Lodsworth
« on: Monday 04 July 05 22:44 BST (UK) »
William Pescod was born in 1660 and married Mary Gosden of Lodsworth.

They had several children - the following were all born in Lodsworth:

Mary & William Peascod, twins born in 1694 (William died in infancy);

John Peascod born 1707; and

William Peascod/Peskett born 1712.

I would be very grateful for any information that anyone can provide on ancestors/siblings or descendents.

Hi Coonwarra

I noticed that there were a couple of families of PESCOD still in Lodsworth in 1841 as follows:

1. Richard Pescod, 45, Shoemaker with Mary, 45 and James 11 and Charlotte, 9

2. John Pescod, 20, Shoemaker and Caroline, 25 with Ann, 1

Hi Chris

Thanks very much for this information.

There could very well be a connection here, although at present I do not have enough data to confirm one way or the other.

I will keep the details that you have provided and hope that a link can be established.

Regards

Andrew

Hi Coonawarra

IN IMMEDIATE FAMILY LINE IS PESKETT WHICH L HAVE BEING TOLD IS A DIRRIVERTIVE OF THE SURNAME PESKETT.

I have the info on my line affirmed in Richard Peskett in 1773 at Wisborough Green in Sussex. I beleive his parents are Richard Pescote and Mary Kennet of Bosham who where married there in 1763. Then through the LDS l think his father was a John Peascod /Pescod of Lodsworth which may be your John.

Do you think there is a link

Hi Robert

This looks very interesting but I'm afraid that I cannot make a direct connection just now. There are a lot of Peascods, Pescods, Pesketts and other derivations of the name floating about the Hampshire/West Sussex borders so we would need to be careful not to jump to any conclusions.

I wonder what other information you might have?

Regards

Andrew
