« on: Monday 09 February 15 08:24 GMT (UK) »
Hi there

Can someone explain the information in the attached image for me please?

"Kent, Michigan" and "Illlinois" don't go together  :-\

Family surnames being researched ...
Crawford, Neilson, Lindsay, Reekie, Davidson
Drummond, Laing, Pearson, Tulloch ... will do for starters but there's a whole lot more!

Last residence where she was receiving his payments was Kent, Michigan (may not be where she actually died) and Illinois is the state she lived when number was originally issued. I think it used to say 'State Issued.'

To check I did a search for someone I knew and the details fit- he lived in New York when getting his S.S. number then retired to Florida where he died-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks aghadowey

I had a feeling that's what it may have been.

Case closed  :)

This page - http://stevemorse.org/ssn/ssn.html - will decode the number and show you the state and year(s) in which it was issued.
