Hi All,

Sorry to say, the only information I have on the name DORRIS is what I posted previously. Since my family has roots in Co. Antrim and  the name appears in Larne,  I can only presume this is where JOSEPH DORRIS SR. is from.

I have searched SP for them and couldm't find
them and I know through research that the mccorkindales in my family came from
Ireland but I dont know where
thanks anyway it was just because I thought it was rather an unusual name
I thought I would see if it connected
I will look up the McCloskey's

Thanks MaryDerry.  I would have never known. But it does bring up another question in my mind, as to why they were married in  Ramoan Parish.  The McKiernan family resided in Culfeightrin RC parish, St. Patrick's RC Church at Ballyvoy.

How were you able to access this record? Are you in the UK? I've tried to get records from St. Patrick's but can't because the LDS wasn't allowed to film their records. Therefore I can't access them here in the US. As far as I know everything I need in my McKiernan research should be at St. Patrick's.

Hi Rosewood
I have found some Dorris's in Old Monkland Scotland some of them were born in Ireland
It doesn't say where
do you know the occupation of your Dorris's
do you want a list of the names for your research
I am not sure if they connect with mines or not

Hi Elaine,

DORRIS is not the main name I am researching. JOSEPH DORRIS was married to my father's sister, MARGARET (PEGGY) McKIERNAN.

The main name I am researching is McKERNAN/McKIERNAN, of Turnaroan, Culfeightrin RC Parish, Co. Antrim and of Mullaghbawn, Inishmagrath RC Parish, in Co. Leitrim.  My mother married a man by the same name as her father. Both men were born in Ireland.

The reason I posted information regarding JOSEPH DORRIS and MARGARET McKIERNAN was because I was hoping that someday some of their descendants might  look for their roots.  Joe and Peggy had only two children, both born in the US. Joe Sr. died long before I was born.  I was told he died young, while both of his children were quite small. Both of the children, my first cousins, also died young, both of cancer. The daughter left a 2 yrs. old and a 4 yr. old. The son left three daughters, pre-teens and a teenager. I don't know what happened to all of them, but if they ever look for their roots, I would like them to be able to find them. The youngest of these would be about 48 yrs. old now.

Hi Rosewood
That's ok
I am trying to find some of them myself
so I will keep them on record
if they ever want them just let me know
Its so sad when children so young lose their parents
I hope they do ask you for the information
Goodluck with your search

Thanks, Elaine.  I've lost track of these relatives a long time ago.  I do hope at some point in time they will want to know more about the parents they lost so early, and their grandparents of Co. Antrim.
