W.Petch 23 Hamilton Rd. Scunthorpe.
« on: Sunday 22 February 15 15:32 GMT (UK) »
W. Petch who gave his wartime address as 23 Hamilton Rd. Scunthorpe was a crew member of 77 Squadron's Whitley Z6642 that crashed 7 July 1941 on operation to Dortmund.

Sergeant Petch and my father were POW's together in Stalag Luft VI and Stalag 357.  Sergeant Petch drew this cartoon in my father's log book,  I believe he is likening the gentleman’s hat being blown into the road and the asking of the “Posten” permission to retrieve it to a prisoner asking permission to collect something that has gone over the wire.

There are 50 prisoners named in my father's POW "Wartime Log."  https://wallyswar.wordpress.com/pow-log/

I am attempting to find a wartime photograph of each individual, so far I have found 23.  My efforts so far can be seen here.  https://wallyswar.wordpress.com/other-pows/

I am hopeful that through this website I can find a wartime photograph of W. Petch and hopefully a little more information.

Regards, David Layne.

To update my search, I am attempting to find a wartime photograph of each of the 51 individuals named in my father's POW "Wartime Log."  I have now found 33.  My efforts so far can be seen here.  https://wallyswar.wordpress.com/other-pows/
