Guinney or Guirney or Guinnery
« on: Thursday 05 March 15 08:43 GMT (UK) »
Hello all, I have bdm index stating Sinnon Guinney married Elizabeth Burns in Paddington in 1893.  Children: 1894 Elizabeth M Guinnery. 1896 Florence Guinney. 1898 Catherine F Guinney.  1902 Vera A Guinney. 1910 anor daughter Kathleen died.  Sinnon is spelt Simon for most of those births in Waverley & Balmain.  22/2/1949 Elizabeth Mary Guirney died and SMH notice states "relict of late Sinon J Guirney". When Vera married in 1931 the newspaper referred only to "Mrs E Guirney".   My ? is where did Sinnon/Sinon/Simon come from and die?  Any ideas would be appreciated.  I have checked & no war record, unless strange surname spelling.   Thank you.

Thank you Ros and Gerry.  Gerry, I think the Michael cabdriver is possibly a brother, because he is mentioned in the death notice for Simon's daughter, Kathleen.   Perhaps "S Guinney of Randwick"?  Ros, I think the marriage/divorce is unlikey as he would have been into his 60s when they married in 1940.  Also I think he is dead before daughter V.A. marries in 31, and certainly by time wife dead in 49.  There is another John Sinon with a brother Michael Thomas, and that is the one in the Probate advert - he died in about 1964 from memory.  That Michael T died in 1937 in Ryde and also appointed his brother JS as executor.  Thank you both for looking. :)

Thank you also Merlin.  Desertion is interesting.  Couldn't open website, but no matter, because when daughter dies in 1910 the funeral notice reads "Mr & Mrs S Guinney" - perhaps indicating he is still with them.
