Trying to find return from Canada 1931
« on: Sunday 08 March 15 09:33 GMT (UK) »
Edwin Hanson sailed from Liverpool to St Johns NB , 6 Feb 1931 regarding employment, arriving 15 Feb 1931 and staying at Windsor Hotel, Montreal.

The family story is that he decided not to take up the offer of employment, being put off by
a marine incident ("shipwreck"?) on the voyage home. This may be just one of those family
stories of course, however I cannot find any evidence of the return voyage - sailing or arrival.

Would appreciate any help with this.

The passenger list for his outward journey has a cross against his name; the other passengers have a slash (/)?

Does this perhaps mean that he was refused entry?

Someone in Canada looked on A.....y and noted his arrival and staying at hotel in Montreal.
But must admit I had not noticed the / or x thing.

It's always best to look at the original record yourself!

One passenger has been struck through by a red line - this means that they didn't travel ( a no-show!).
Two passengers have an "X" rather than a slash "/".

I am guessing that it means he was denied entry - but that's because I can't think of another reason for the "X"?! :-\
