Private: C Company, Canterbury Infantry Battalion, 21st Reinforcements, New Zealand Expeditionary Force

29 Sep 1917: Wounded whilst in action, France. Gunshot wound, causing severe compound fracture of the skull.

21 Nov 1917: Embarked Hospital Ship “Marama” for New Zealand.

Died 25 Jul 1920 (aged 23), after discharge from the NZEF, as a direct result of the gunshot wound to his head, received whilst on active service.
BRICK WALL: GG Grandad George HARWOOD / HORWOOD - bn c1815 Somerset ENG (possibly Thorne Coffin) - mar 1837 Brympton, Somerset - emigrated to NZL 1841.
