Help please where was Nimrod before 1871
« on: Wednesday 11 March 15 11:47 GMT (UK) »
Nimrod Hew was baptised  2 Jul 1826 in Paulton
1841 HO107/ 939/18 fo34p19  12 yrs old
In 1871 RG 10/5586 Fo44 P5
In 1881  RG11/5463 Fo34 P11
Many of the family go to Beaufort so it is no surprise to find him there neither do I worry that the name has now changed from Hew to Hughes
BUT where was he before 1871 and why the age change are a problem.
Can anyone find him on any census at all so I can be sure this Nimrod Hughes is the one baptised in Paulton
(I need it to prove a relationship in a complicated situation)
Many thanks

As you say should be His first child was Charles Henry Davy Hughes. But is it the right Nimrod the age is 5 years out I wouldn't mind if it was +_ 3 one one occasion but on both censuses he is born 1831 so is he the one I want?
where was he in 1851?

The marriage is on FreeREG and says his father is James Hughes (Dead) which would fit with the 1841 census - maybe they rounded his age down?

Interesting the witnesses were Amos too and Nimrod's sister married a Stephen Amos but I can't be sure who George and Maria Amos were yet.
Good that age and father's name makes it more likely to be the right Nimrod
Still wonder where he was in 1851 though.
Now it looks like his son Edwin on the 1871 census is the 10 year old Edward who was nephew of Betsy Carter in 1881 RG11/2427 fo128 p 9
Unless anyone can find an Edward on the 1871 census or an Edwin b 1870 on the 1881 census

Its looking good for Betty Carter who was nee Hew to be a sister of Nimrod though strangely although nimrod and other siblings were all baptised Betty was not
Many many thanks for everyones hard work on this one
