Conlon - Shoe maker Athlone
« on: Thursday 12 March 15 10:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I'm trying to find out more about my gt gt gf Edward Conlon who I believe was born in Athlone / Roscommon/Westmeath area. From his Army records we believe he was born c 1846 and from his marriage certificate we know his father was John who was a shoemaker.  I've been stumped for the best part of 10 years on this so any help would be much appreciated!

A  record exists for a Edward Conlon, father John, mother Mary born 1845 baptised at Croghan RC church in Co. Roscommon

Record found on rootsireland site, may be worth checking out, full record may give you John's occupation and maybe Mary's maiden name

There is a John Conlon recorded in Griffith, civil parish of Killukin (part of Croghan Catholic parish)
in the townland of Annaghbeg, but he appears to be a tenant farmer with of 9 acres of land so doubtful that he would be a shoe maker
