FULLER/RICHARDS/PIPE Sussex and London
« on: Tuesday 17 March 15 16:28 GMT (UK) »
I've searched hard for the ancestry of Ann Pipe (2x G-GM) who married John Wilgress Pipe at Holborn in 1844; she was named as Anne Richards, widow; father was William Fuller (farmer). I have failed to find her in 1841 and 1851 censuses; in '61 she's born in 'Horley' Sussex; '71 widow born Sussex and '81 East Grinstead and I'm sure but can't find it now that in one census she was born in North Sussex. The only William Fuller that fits the bill was born in Withyham 1776; married Sarah Heat 1799 in Hartfield and died 1814 in Harfield. I have found no marriage for (Mary) Ann to a Mr. Richards. Ann died 6 Dec. 1884 & buried 11 Dec 1884 in Abney Park Cemetery. I've searched the Heat(h) family as far as I could but found no further relationships.
Any assistance to help me to corroborate these findings would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much

William and Sarah Fuller née Heat appear to have children baptised at Hartfield including Mary Anne, 20th Sep 1801 but according to a tree on Ancestry that Mary Anne marries Joseph Boatwright

I think the 1851 census gives her place of birth as Worth, Sussex.   Not North Sussex.  As their son is age 12 and born in Bromley, Kent then they may be there in 1841.   Do you have his birth certificate to confirm her maiden name?

Ann Fuller m Francis Richards 6 Sep 1828 at Ifield , W. Sussex.

I think Horley might have been Crawley. Crawley , Worth and Ifield are all quite close , with East Grinstead just a little further away.

Thank you all once again. It does appear that I've been barking up the wrong tree! I found the marriage in 1828 in Ifield on FreeReg but it doesn't come up with Ann's name nor her father and her baptism on Ancestry. Please can you confirm the source for the marriage or batch number for the IGI - thanks again
Certainly all this fits far better than my efforts.
