Trying to pin down an L&SWR date
« on: Wednesday 18 March 15 13:29 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,
I hope I'm posting in the right place. Someone was always able to help me further my family research on this site and so now I'm wondering if someone has the information to help me with a historical matter.

When the L&SWR built what is now Eastleigh Station (completed 1841), it was called Bishopstoke Station. It then changed its name to Bishopstoke Junction. Does anyone know when?

I have conflicting dates. Within a year and 10 years later.

The station was built by the LSWR and was called Bishopstoke when it was opened in 1839.The station-house was designed by Sir William Tite.

It was renamed Bishopstoke Junction in 1852, Eastleigh and Bishopstoke in 1889, and finally Eastleigh Station in 1923.
