looking for a soldier in CEF
« on: Saturday 04 April 15 14:48 BST (UK) »
Can anybody suggest how to find a relative,
Joseph Osbaldiston served in The CEF, born in England 1888, arrived in Newport Vermont 28th Nov. 1921, his wife in England later remarried so I'm wondering if he divorced in Canada, and he must have died there. He signed on the CEF on 1st nov 1915 in Ottawa
any help would be appreciated;
Thanks SC

Hi Mcauley1
Thanks I have that, I was wondering if there is any way of finding out where he went after he left the CEF. As I don't think he came back to England for a divorce.
Thanks SC

Hi,

Hmmm...I wonder if your chap has had a bit of a name change, there is a WW2 Draft
Registration;
Joseph Oswald Diston, b. January 6, 1888, Bradford, England (matches CEF attestation)
56 Pleasant Street, Leicester, Worcester, Mass. (matches his 1921 border crossing)
If you look at signatures CEF/WW2 they do look similar.

Thanks Sandra  ;D

1930 Census - shoe repairing...another match to his attestation papers. ;D

There is a 1922 Marriage Index Worcester Massachusetts Volume #62, Page 529
Joseph Osbaldiston. Same volume # and Page # Bodil Ingjerd Lindquist.

I'm starting to think that this is him.

Cheers,
DB
