Searching for an Inquest report look up
« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 16:27 BST (UK) »
Hi all  :)

I was hoping that someone could help me.  I have the death certificate of a friends ancestor named Finlay McIntosh.  He died on the 17th October 1895.  He died at the Belfast Royal Hospital of a brain injury caused by a fractured skull. An Inquest was held on the 18th October 1895. The inquest papers are held at PRONI. I thought that a newspaper report may have reported it but unfortunately the Belfast selection on the British Newspaper Archive do not yet cover the year that i,m looking for.

If anyone is planning a trip to PRONI soon I would very much appreciate if this could be looked at. Or failing that, if anyone has any access to local Belfast newspapers from that year would they be able to look to see if a report was published.

Many thanks in advance

The British Newspaper Archive does cover that year for the Belfast Newsletter, look at the edition of Saturday 19 October 1895, page 7, third column from the left (from the top) for a report of the inquest. PM me if you have any difficulty finding it. :) Just checking you know, Finlay McIntosh is buried with relatives in grave B1 532 of Belfast City Cemetery:

PS: You might want to ask the moderator to move this to Antrim from sub board "Resources and Offers".
