Finding Aiden Byrne
« on: Monday 04 May 15 08:28 BST (UK) »
Good morning all, hope you can help.

I am trying to trace Aiden Byrne, or even any of his family!!
I 1st pick them up on the 1841 census
have them listed on the 1841 census living at 175 Bostock St, Liverpool
all of them were born in Ireland.
James Byrne   45 Merchant  b 1796
Elizabeth Byrne   40  b 1801
George Byrne   20  b 1821
David Byrne   20  b 1821
Margaret Byrne   18  b 1823
James Byrne   15  b 1826
John Byrne     15  b 1826
Aiden Byrne   13  b 1828

I can't find any of the children after this, it's as if they have vanished!

By 1851 i think James & Elizabeth (spelt Bermes) are living at 18 Islington in Liverpool but with no children. I'm fairly certain they had another child called Edward born 1823, he entered in the Merchant Navy in 1839 so does not show on census records, however his Masters certificate shows his address as 18 Islington ( also says that he was born in Liverpool, but think he fibbed there)
Edward is the family member i am researching & i am trying to trace back from him, i'm going on coincidences, the address & that Edward had a son called Aden.

I have posted about this before, but with no replies i thought i would try again.

Hope you can help

I wonder if all the children emigrated to America?

A long shot but there is an A J Byrnes on the 1860 census for USA - birth Ireland 1828. Address Richmond Ward 1, Henrico, Virginia.  Eldest child was born Maryland, so A J Byrne was obviously in America before 1851.

A J Byrne           32      Ireland
Mary A Byrne   33      Ireland
Mary Byrne   16      Maryland
Andrew Byrne     7      Virginia
Francis Byrne     5      Virginia
William Byrne     1      Virginia

Thanks for this, i just checked it out, but when tracing them on the 1870 census the A stands for Andrew.  :-[

Did Edward marry? If so, did he give a father's name?
You say he was never on a UK census - was that through his job or did he emigrate?
What date was his Masters Cert with the Islington address?

Edward never married well not legally & not in this country!
His story is here :-  http://www.meiji-portraits.de/meiji_portraits_b.html#20090527093402531_1_2_3_104_1

the connection is tenuous & as i said i am going by James & Elizabeth living at the same address that Edward used, i'm trying to find links to prove it. I have never found a will for Edward either!  :(

I think I have read something of that before  ???
What date was his Masters Certificate? Does it coincide with James and Elizabeth being at the same address?

James & Elizabeth were at the address in 1851 & i think his Captains certificate is 1851 to,
i have tried to look at the address for following years but i can't seem to pick it up.
