My great grandfather, William Jackson 1839-1984, had three wives. His first wife was Elizabeth Ellerington, born on 5th August 1842 to Robert and Jane Ellerington.
*
William and Elizabeth married on 30th June 1863 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. They had one child, Amos, who was born on 21st March 1864.
*
William remarried - to Margaret Laidler on 25th April 1868 - so Elizabeth died between March 1864 and April 1868. But WHEN and WHERE?
*
It could have been in Northumberland or Durham, as William's business was based in Sunderland. I have purchased two certificates already with no luck, so I'm reluctant to buy any more.
Thanks
Richard PJ

No. I purchased the birth certificate and got:
Eliz. Jackson, daughter of Joshua Jackson, hairdresser decd., died on 21st December 1867 aged 23 years at "Spital Tongues" Newcastle.
*
So this was not our Elizabeth.

When William remarried did it say he was a widower  ???

William was a widower, 26, wine and spirit merchant of South Shields when he married Margaret Laidler on 25th April 1868.
*
I don't believe he was a bigamist.

The other one I eliminated was Eliz. Jackson died on 16th September 1867 at Green Lane Cottages, Harton (?) in the Reg. District of South Shields. She was the wife of James Jackson, Engine fitter.

I have two death certificates that I can donate to a good home.
