Question re the Newall family of Littleborough
« on: Tuesday 12 May 15 16:13 BST (UK) »
So, i'm trying to find some info of the children of the couple below. A person i know says they had 11 children but i can officially only find 10.

Henry Newall and Maria married in 1852

On the 1871 census i could find

Sybil Newall (queenie) olympic archery champion 1908 born 1854-1929
Hannah F    Daughter   F   10
Margaret F   Daughter   F   5
Helen M F    Daughter   F   3
Emily F    Daughter   F   1

on the 1881 census i found

Lawrence R or K    Son           M    24
John F Newall   Son           M    22
Maria F Newall   Daughter   F   8
Victoria F Newall   Daughter   F   6

According to the manchester courier they had a daughter born in 1874 who doesnt seem to be on the census

Also found a Henry G but i have no idea of his birth

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry I have just typed out a long reply and it has disappeared!

In short, Henry died 1886 and left a Will, he had a large estate. A copy of that could well name his surviving children.

If you want the Probate index entry, just ask and I will type it out again!

The one born 1874 is Victoria Fenton Newall - birth obviously not included in the June quarter as registered Sept.qtr.1874.
