Mackie. John b. abt 1785, Aberdeenshire, Scot

I am looking for info on JOHN MACKIE 6th  child of John Mackie & Margaret Buchan (m.2 Nov 1775 Alford) John was bapt/chr 1 Sept 1785 Alford (I was told).
Family Search doesn't even show this chr so I am now confused I have a number
but am not sure where it came from. Batch no.7607508, sheet 13, source call no. 1058295
John's siblings were all chr in Alford except his brother George McKay which says Tough which is close by
I cannot find any Census Record etc.
Can anyone please help me. thanks from Oz

The birth is noted in Scotland's People.

Hello n.coaster,

You say that you can’t find any census records but I’m not sure if you mean the family in general or just John.  Could this be George?  Remember that ages were rounded down in 1841 and also spellings were not particularly stable, so be aware of variations such as Mackay etc.  If you can post more details about John; wife, children, occupation etc., it may help posters here to locate him.

Scotlands people have an 1868 death record in Tough for George Mackie, born 1782. This will confirm his parents, and hopefully give details of the father’s occupation, if known by the informant.

I have info on George he is his brother.
John is the youngest child of John Mackie and Margaret Buchan.
I don't have any info on him except his bapt/chr
Because of his birth being abt  1785
I don't have any info with family or marriage info
I he lived to 1841 Census he would be about 56yrs
I don't have a clue on Occupation etc.

There is a 6th March 1797 marriage at Alford, of a John Mackie to Agnes Michie.

Thanks for that info, but I think age would only be about 13 for him.
