john henry wright 1874

hi I have john henry wright born 1872, in market deeping. in 1911 he is in Lincoln prison. does anybody know how I can find any more info. I cannot find a death for him if anyone can help with  that also, and his wife maud wright (nee wignall) born 1880 in Leicester. I cannot find her in 1911 census or a death record. if anyone can help it be a great help.

Do you know of any more children born after Rosina who was 1mth old in 1901

Find Ida Emily WRIGHT (30) in 1911 with her parents.  I think Lily (4m) is Annie Lilian (see baptism on FreeREG)

From what I can glean (without spending anything), in Feb 1911, JHW was charged with attempted murder after stabbing his wife.

thank you so much. I see u said maud died 1909 but he was in court in 1911? is that normal time from attempted murder? also in 1911 he is in Lincoln prison in the census records. I didn't know he had remarried. it be interesting to see how the daughter, rosina died in 1915.

what makes u think attempted murder? ive put in the link and read it and it says he stole a cheque and a pair of trousers?

hi just seen the link u gave was for 1895.


hi have now found it. yes it was attempted murder of his 2nd wife. he got hard labour for 8 months

Presumably he attacked Ida in 1911.  I've no idea what happened to Maud.  :-\  It wouldn't be attempted murder if he'd done away with her.

JHW did dodgy things in the 1890s but it's pretty clear that 1911 saw him doing a whole lot worse.

This stuff came up when I searched with "John Henry Wright" Stamford ... he must have been in prison for something.  If he didn't do anything like that it's a bit of a coincidence, don't you think?
