Parent's of Charles H Richmond

I'm looking for the parents of Charles Henry Richmond. He was born around 1869 in Birmingham. I have him in the 1891, 1901, 1911 with his wife Elizabeth (nee Underwood). They married in 1890 in Birmingham.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A possibility in Fordnough (?) St, St Thomas, Birmingham, in 1871. All born Birmingham. Cannot guarantee from the image that John and Ellen are married to each other, or that Charles is their son.

This is one that I'd found before and could be a possibility. There was a John Richmond who married Ellen Robinson in Birmingham in 1868. His father's name is Charles Richmond, a labourer. John's occupation is listed as a something solderer. I wondered if this could be the same family as the one in the 1871 census. Trouble is, I can't find them in 1881.

Could John have died and Ellen remarried?

This is very possible, yes. I wonder what became of Ellen Robinson? I would be surprised if she didn't remarry and have more children.

As I said earlier I cant find a Marriage for Ellen or find her and Charles in 1881.

It's so frustrating when people seem to disappear from census. Charles would only have been around 12 years old in 1881 and should be living with his mother. I can't see that he would have taken his mother's new married name (if there was one) and then later returned to the surname Richmond. But then I could be wrong.

That has often happened under another surname of Mothers Husband or Partner in Census and then going back to a birth name later.
