First thing I noticed was all the crosses with the circles around them ... probably of no significance ...

I think they could be quite significant.  Anyone able to classify them? They look a bit plain for celtic crosses but I could be talking through my hat!

I wonder if those circular ones  have a military connection?       Because they are like a gun sight.            Or   are they a particular religion?

A couple of comments on what's been said already:

I think the "gun-sight" memorials (nice description) will be cast iron grave markers - a temporary or cheaper alternative to stone.

Also I think there probably is a roof: in my travels I've seen a few where the chancel appeared to have been added on later, often in a different style and to a different scale.
