Mary Ann Chalk
« on: Friday 19 June 15 12:16 BST (UK) »
I am wondering if anyone can help me with a baptism record for a Mary Ann Chalk who was born in 1779, and married William Shearing in 1806 in Fordingbridge.  In the 1851 census her place of birth is listed as Woodgreen and then something indistinct after that (the ancestry transcription has it as Ertrapingline).

The only record I can find for a Mary Ann Chalk born in 1779 is one baptised in Salisbury Whiltshire.

Any help would be much appreciated.

She was baptised in Breamore (just the other side of the river Avon from Woodgreen) on 25 July 1780.  Her parents were Ambrose & Mary Chalke.

She had a brother David, baptised 15 Dec 1776.

Thanks so much for the replies.

Rosie - that made for some very interesting reading.

Nell - I think that finally clears up who my Mary Ann was - I've been puzzling about her for a while now.
