BMDs listed in Jewish newspaper
« on: Monday 29 June 15 11:46 BST (UK) »
I found a site where someone has listed the BMDs for the Jewish community - they were all taken from a newspaper but I cannot find it any more - any ideas please? It was from about 1850 - 1900.

Ignore that - just found it - hope it helps others

That's a great find auntie, especially as not everyone wants to buy a cert based on the entries in the GRO indexes.

I went to his home page and found loads of other sources

Jeffrey Maynard's site has many excellent free resources, and links to many more. The standard newspaper resource for Jewish BMDs and other events is the Jewish Chronicle itself (published from 1841 onwards).

The JC archives are online -- free search, subscribe for full access. The scanning and indexing is poor, but you can get a fair amount out of the free search results by careful manipulation of the search terms.

(select Archives, top right)

The indexing of the same data is far superior at My Heritage, but again you have to subscribe for full access.

This is great ; I didn't find any Fellman's on here tho .
I've been deciding which death certificates to send of for for people who may be my GGfather's siblings but it's too expensive to get all of them as i don't know first names ;

Does anyone know what  angliscised names would have been given to Khaya + Taube ?

 I wonder if there is a service like this for lancashire .manchester
