Would this beautiful little girl be an Edwardian Bridesmaid?
« on: Friday 10 July 15 11:04 BST (UK) »
This is another picture I purchased  in a job lot of photos.  Like my previous photo  posted the other day I have fallen in love with it.  I know I will not be able to discover her identity. There is nothing written on the back.  But really wanted to share her with you all and get a possible date please and any comments would be gratefully accepted.

I don't think she's a bridesmaid. I would have thought she'd be wearing white shoes.
Looks like her best dress.
These type of hats with large bows was an 1890's fashion but continued well into the Edwardian era.
The cardstock is Edwardian but was still in use early 20's.
I think there's quite a large timespan with this from early 1900's up to WW1 or maybe just beyond.

I think this is just someone dressed in her best dress as well. Having your photo taken a hundred or more years ago was a special occasion, not like today when people are photographed all the time. So people dressed up for it and went to studios. I have several of relatives wearing what obviously wouldn't be everyday clothes.

Thanks Guys,

Wow Jim well spotted with the shoes, not at all suitable for a wedding- I am impressed! Why didn't I notice that, although I did notice when I enlarged the photo shoes looked a little scuffed and didn't go with the dress!

Yes Jan and Millie I think like you,  dressed up in her finery for the photo! Not like our photos today when anything (or nothing!!) goes, what will future researchers make of us?

She is such a little poppet!
