Ancestry Family Tree
« on: Saturday 18 July 15 00:34 BST (UK) »
I must admit to being a little lax with my Family Trees of late being pre-occupied with other matters. As ever with these things I only found about it completely by chance.I had reason tonight to look at my Tree on Tribal Pages.I could see something was amiss straightaway for my apparently earliest ancestor was unknown to me.

Following the link to my known family I was able to delete them on Tribal Pages.I went to check my Tree then on Ancestry as its normal practice for me to download from Ancestry and then upload to Tribal Pages. In the process of deleting the added names from Ancestry I was able to find the only two people who shared these added names.

The strange thing is though that these two people are not among the people with whom I have shared my Tree.So the question I'm asking is;How were these two people able to add these names to my Tree?

Regards

Hi WRJ,

Not 100% on this but I would imagine you would have given them your password for editing  ???

Maybe you hadn't realised but that sounds probable  :-\

Sorry,

Read question wrong  ::)

It looks to me as though a family member who has access to editing your tree on Tribalpages has possibly done it or even passed on the password as I think from memory you can do that on Tribalpages  ???

This would not necessarily be any of the names you found with a tree on Ancestry.

Worth asking the people you have allowed access  ???
EDIT.......it seems it would have been edited on T/Pages  ???

Something which happened to me years ago on Anc was my tree was visible and I was able to edit etc.
However, one day after not using it for a while, I found I couldn't access my own tree  ???

My password was the same for all 3 which I had on Anc yet I couldn't access this one.

I sent a few messages through the (get in touch with the owner) button asking who this was that had access to my tree etc. and hoping the messages would come back to my own email as I owned the tree & had no email nor a reply from the "ghost"  ???

I then sent Anc a message with my query, explaining what had happened.
To this day I don't know what Anc did, if anything but that tree is no longer on Anc  ???

Strange but true  ;D

Thanks Annie, the names were added to my Tree on Ancestry. The Tree on Tribal Pages is merely a back up which I upload after downloading my Gedcom from Ancestry.

Have you been in touch with Anc ???

I would delete the tree on Anc & start a fresh one with your upload & change password but that doesn't solve the mystery  ???  ;D  ::)
