No 1 Belvedere Rd & 49 Esplanade Road, Scarborough
« on: Saturday 25 July 15 22:28 BST (UK) »
I have a Vincent James born at No 1 Belvedere Road to a woman called Laura James who is listed as living at 49 Esplanade Road, Scarborough in 1906.

I cant find her or her son on the 1911 Census anywhere so I am looking for more information on  the two properties at that time.

Laura is unmarried and a domestic servant

I was hoping to find a directory covering 1902-1907 to find a relative or family- is there one?

In 1914 Mrs Crosby of No 1 Belvedere Road was killed in the December bombardments by the German Fleet.

Hi
In 1901 Selina Jane and Louisa Catherine Tindall were living at 1 Belvedere Road Scarborough with a servant Edith Crosby. They were still there 10 years later.

So I wonder what on earth they have in connection with Laura James to have her give birth to illigitimate son Vincent in 1906 at that address.

Was Vincent later unofficially adopted or changed his name?

Or, if Laura married before 1911, they could both be showing under a new surname.

This looks an interesting marriage, coupled with an incorrect transcription on 1911 for their son's place of birth, which we cannot post, but suggest you look for it.
(Or I hope it is these 2 who marry)

49 Esplanade Road was a school in 1901.

Vincent remained Vincent James,  married in 1927 and died in the war in 1944, all under Vincent James.

But yes I've been looking for Lauras aged about 23-30 and Vincents aged 5 in the same building in 1911.

Vincent can keep his James surname, but could be showing under a different surname in 1911.

Did he put any name for his Father on his marriage certificate?

What else do you know about Laura?

As Vincent was born at the end of 1906, he will only be 4 in the census.

So you could be looking for a Vincent Thomas age 4 living in Darlington.

No name on birth cert for Vincent 1906.

No further info on Laura other than quoted on war gravesend commission as son if Laura James (in 1944 she was referred to by the army with the names James).  Which seems odd if she married Mr Bond ??? In 1908.

Haven't found a George bond with wife Laura yet..... is that what you are suggesting I should find?
