Hi - would anyone have access to the parish baptism register for Keevil please?

Looking for -

John, Frederick & George born to Ann Buridge - illegitimate I think - around 1860 - 70.

Parish Registers will be at Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre.

I looked at the Wiltshire OPC website, but they only have transcripts for 1702-1812.


What did you find on the census?
Names, and ages?


I'm not seeing any likely people on FreeBMD, or on any census?
Are you sure the dates are correct?
Are you sure they were born in Keevil?

Many thanks for your thoughts KGarrad. I had thought the Wiltshire Family History Society had a publication of the Keevil baptisms.

We have the birth certificate for John Frederick Burbidge born 1864 in Keevil - mother Ann Burbidge of Keevil - no father.

What is confusing is that we have the military records of John Burbidge, born in Keevil in 1865, which has his next of kin as mother Ann and brothers Frederick & George.
On the 1871 census Ann is in Keevil with John aged 7, and on the 1881 census she is in Keevil with Frederick aged 17. No sign of John. Unless this is the same boy. But the brothers noted on the military records really threw a spanner in the works.

May have to order those other birth certificates & see if that sheds some light!

As we are decended from the soldier John Frederick (whose wife & children are traceable on census whilst he is in barracks) we really need to be sure that our ancestor is actually John Frederick and not his brother Frederick.
