Greenbank Cemetry Bristol
« on: Thursday 06 August 15 21:33 BST (UK) »
I have just found my gggggrandad William Ison was buried in Greenbank Cemetry in Bristol in 1906. How do I find where he buried? Is it just a matter of walking around the Cemetry and search for it? Or am I able to find a precise area before I get there. Any help greatly appreciated.

Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

Bristol and Avon Family History Society have a CD of burials at Greenbank.

Possibly Bristol City Council Cemetery offices can help?

Thank you very much For your reply. I got the date of death and registration of death from the records office in Bristol. I think I may have found the location of William's grave by emailing the people who oversee the cemeteries in Bristol. My next step is to try and visit to see if there is a grave stone or marker as I do not live in Bristol.

Nashua, that would be amazing if you could do that for me. The grave number is 1554 Yellow T! I hope this means something to you! The name is William Ison, died June 15th 1906.

Your welcome Zena. I have a map of the cemetery as some of my relatives were buried there        (  Yellow - O -1648 - graves not marked)  I will try to get there later this week and let you know what I find.

Sorry Zena. I have been to Greenbank but could not find a marker for William Ison. Much of area T had been grassed over  and I found very few headstones for the year 1906.

Nashua, thank you very much for taking the time to look for me. It is a shame there is no marker for William, I suppose it was probably unlikely. But at least I know where he was laid to rest.
