If he did commit bigamy, there might be something in local papers.

Finally found him on 1911 census as Passmoor! Thanks for the help. I guess this is the fellow then, if so I wonder at what point he was found out! My gran used to stay with this family when she was a little girl but didn't know anything about it. Thanks for all the help, especially since I clearly posted on the Northumberland board when it should have been Durham!

Thanks again,

Dan

Can't have been that long after the marriage if they married in August 1911 and she remarried in October 1912.

I am guessing there were no children from the first marriage! I noticed an Elizabeth Curry born in September 199 in the Chester le Street area with mother's surname of Rundle (I have seen so many variations of Rendles over the years) and thought the plot might be thickening but there seems to be a Robert Curry in the Lanchester district who married a Rundle, hey ho! Henrietta and Hepple Curry had at least one child who they callec Doris Irene Curry, born around 1914.

Poor Mary, I wonder if he was just messing around and went back to her or whether they were separated. They have a couple of children on census too, my last post about no children was refering to him with Henrietta. Strange business all round. I have another set of bigamists on my tree who just set up and told everyone they were married and stated they were on census and baptisms etc they then married at a registry office in old age in secret even though the bride's ex was still alive and undivorced.

From  looking at  the   trees on Ancestry   and  Free BMD   it appears  Mary  and Thomas  had a few  more  children ( after the 1911 ' marriage'   too , )  and  Thomas dies in 1965  in Pelton  address given as 21 Vicarage  Lane  Pelton ,    Marys probate in 1966  has  her address as 16 Vicarage Lane Pelton
