John Cudd 1704
« on: Saturday 05 September 15 16:07 BST (UK) »
John Cudd married Hannah Boice October 1726 in Chipping Norton.

I have been unable to find any records relating to this marriage which would give me a guide to establishing his parents names.

Likewise I've been unlucky in finding John's date of death or that of his wife Hannah.

Any information would really help me with my family narrative.

Thank you

John's 1726 marriage in Chipping Norton is the earliest CUD(D) marriage (male or female) in Oxfordshire (Source:  OFHS Oxfordshire Marriage Index 1538-1837), so it seems likely that John's family originated from outside the county.  (To confirm this, you may like to contact the OFHS - www.ofhs.org.uk - and request a look-up on their Baptism Index.  There is a nominal charge of a couple of pounds.)

Some further information ...

There is a PMT on the Ancestry website which has a baptism for a John CUDD (married to Hannah BOICE) on 24 DEC 1702, son of Edward.   According to the Family Search website, this baptism took place in Corley, Warwickshire.  However, this John CUDD was buried four years later in Corley.

There are, however, two burials at St. Peter's, Dunstable, Bedfordshire, which may warrant further investigation (unfortunately, no ages are given):

26 OCT 1766 - Han CUDD ("poor old woman")
16 NOV 1766 - Jn CUDD ("the Workhouse man")

St. Peter's parish records are available to view (free) on the FreeREG website and there are other CUDD entries which you may find of interest.
