Baptism Henry Peele 1632 Bolton-By-Bowland
« on: Tuesday 08 September 15 17:05 BST (UK) »
I am trying to establish the correct date of baptism of my 7x great grandfather, Henry Peele.  According to the transcription of the bishop's transcript on 'Find My Past' it is given as 5th June 1632. According to that of the parish register on 'Ancestry' it is given as 10th June, 1632 (name on Ancestry index wrongly given as 'Henne Peele'). Both sources also provide the image but my ability to read 'old English' is not very good I'm afraid.
I was wondering if anyone who has access to both FindMyPast & Ancestry might give me their opinion from the images as to what the correct date might be.

I have the West Riding parish records on disc, this gives -

Henrie son of Thomas Peele baptised 05/06/1632 Bolton by Bowland.

I've checked both the images you refer to, and it's definitely 5 June - written with Roman numerals as vth (or vth - one of them looks like a superscript, the other doesn't).

The entry above is for 30 May (written xxxth), and as the x's are very different from the numeral in Henry Peele's entry, I don't think it could possibly be 10 June.

Many thanks both for your comments. It's the 5th of June, 1632 then. I very much appreciate your assistance.
