Francis Walsh
« on: Saturday 12 September 15 13:27 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to trace family of my grandfather John Joseph Walsh who came from Wexford Town, Ireland.  thanks to another researcher on ancestry UK I was able to purchase his youngest brother Francis's RNR records.  Francis was born in King Street, Wexford August 1890, son of John Walsh and Mary Furlong.  He joined RNR in 1910 and it gives his address in 1931 as San Fransico.  Unfortunately it says address on reverse but the scan only shows front of record.  I am hoping that someone on this site, living in that area might have access to census records of that time.
Francis like his brother was 5'5" with blue eyes.  Maybe if I am really lucky he might sound familiar to one of the readers.  Here's hoping, Anne

Thank you so much Sandra.  I have been knocking my head against that wall for so long and now thanks to yourself and another member of ancestry, I am able to start building my Walsh tree again.  Most annoying thing is that Grandad lived with us till his death in 1958 when I was 18 but I think he had fallen out with his family along the way and although I spent most summers in Wexford Town when I was young, I never knew any of his relations.  I think maybe it is time to upgrade my ancestry subscription so I can go into the American census and other records.  Thank you once again it is such a good feeling when that wall starts to crumble.  Anne

Once again a big thank you.  My granny told me her mother in law didn't want her sons at sea but grandad ran off at 15 and it looks like the younger ones followed in his foot steps. I will have plenty to keep me going for the week-end.  Anne
