Seeking PR lookup for elusive Brinkworth/Blinkworth ancestor bapt abt 1756
« on: Monday 14 September 15 10:50 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I can't find the baptism of Isaac Brinkworth on the Familysearch website. Isaac married Mary Marton (Martin?) at Leonard Stanley 20.4.1781 and they had at least 5 children there, I have their baptism and some marriage details - including their daughter, my ancestor. I found some of the marriage info on the Parishmouse website.

I estimate that Isaac was born abt 1756. I found a death reg for an Isaac Brinkworth at Stroud 1839, that may or may not be him, it could be his son or a cousin of the same name.

There were also Brinkworth/Blinkworth folk at Kings Stanley, but I can't find a baptism for Isaac anywhere.

Does anyone have access to parish records to assist me with this brick wall, please?

TIA

Em

There is a death in 1830 (FindMyPast) at Shortwood Baptist - 6 minutes from Kings Stanley , which I have found in my own searches is non-conformist.

I looked at http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk  and found 5 children that possibly could be attached to Isaac and Mary. Isaac 1781 , Mary 1783, Thomas 1786, John 1788, Hannah 1791. Do these match the names you have?

Hi
Burial for Isaac at Leonard Stanley 2.7.1809 but no age
Wife Mary 11.8.1816 age 60

Others in parish
Richard Blinksworth married Mary Smith 26.12.1784 witnesses ISAAC and John Donny ,burial 16.5.1821 66 so born 1745 and wife Mary 25.2.1827 born 1742.
A burial for a Thomas 26.2.1784 and Sussannah 4.7.1794.

No sign of baptisms for Richard and Isaac or earlier Blinksworths Brinksworths in the parish.

It's possible that  Richard was Isaac's father but more likely a brother.

There is also a Isaac and Alice with a group baptism at Horsley baptist chapel children 1781 onwards who might be the burial in Stroud.

ps the marriage in 1781 looks like Marton and witnesses Rebeekah Ridor and John Donny
pps there is also a daughter Sarah of Isaac and Mary named on her daughter's Ann Longney's baptism at Frampton on Severn 2.4.1809 ,married to Walter she was bapt 13.1.1782.
Marriage at St James Bristol 10.11.1806
Son Isaac 12.3.1793.

Thanks so much for that info. Yes, they may have been N.C.

So far I have 5 children but am in the process of checking them, not quite the same bairns as what you kindly provided. Hopefully, I will soon connect with someone who says he has quite a lot of info on the clan, he's a bit elusive at the moment but has left a trail on the 'net.

Hi,

Ah, cheers, that's looking closer to the mark for their burials! I'm still trying to absorb the rest of the details.

Where did you find this info please? and what surname was given for Isaac and Mary at the time of their burial?

There seems to be yet another name variation or two - Brinkel/Brinket/Brinkett.

Yes, I've found a brother Richard Brinkett and parents Thomas Brinket and Ann Hedges with Isaac Brinkel being their youngest son.

Yes, I also found the 'Marton' but no witnesses on the record I found, so thanks for all the bonuses!

Cheers,
Em

Hi
Most of the info from Ancestry.
Isaac and Mary buried as Brinkworth.
That Richard son of Thomas and Ann does look good.
